Koh Samui: The Island Paradise of Thailand
Just land on Koh Samui airport you will realize that you are about to enter a totally magical and heavenly dimension. Considered one of the world's finest airports, Thai design recreates the typical atmosphere of comfort and total relaxation which combines the lush gardens with a touch of technology.
However, the attractions of Koh Samui remained virtually hidden from international tourism to the 80s, at which time it rediscovered its white sand beaches, turquoise waters, coconut palms and coral reefs of a thousand hues. Currently the luxury hotels are interspersed with rustic air bungalow in perfect harmony with the exotic charm and semi-wild on the island.
Live fully the nature
In Koh Samui nature has been a meticulous craftsman who created dream landscapes. Chaweng is the best example of this and that for nearly five miles of blue hues waters bathe emerald and white fine sand. In the evenings the hotels put their tables and chairs right on the beach so that guests can appreciate the explosion of colors of the sunset while sipping cocktails.
If you want a little more action must go to the South Beach, known as Noi. These waters are perfect for a journey aboard a catamaran, paddle a kayak or jet drive. Further south of the island is Thong Krut, a small fishing village. In the restaurants you can taste typical dishes exalted with the taste of pepper and then have the opportunity to embark on a tour to the neighboring islands completely unspoilt landscapes they cherish.
However, Koh Samui is not just sand and sea. If you put toward the southwest of the island find the Na Muang waterfall, a stream of water falling over rocks purple almost 30 meters high. Here the tree roots have intertwined with rocks to form a natural staircase leading to a huge pool. The river trekking incites or maybe you dare to make this journey gone to the back of an elephant.
When night falls
Aliveness, joy and transgression, the nightlife of Koh Samui offers a sea of possibilities for fun. In areas Chaweng and Lamai are concentrated most of the premises and two of the most famous nightclubs of the island which are open until dawn: Reggae Pub and Green Mango. Crowd also hundreds of small bars offering everything from jazz notes to the Thai traditional rhythms, many of which are built facing the sea so it is not surprising that the party ends in the sand.
Once a month, on the nearby island of Koh Phangan, we celebrate the Full Moon Party. When dusk falls people begin to reach the beaches of Rin Nok and Rin Nai to watch the full moon starts its journey in the sky. Meanwhile, bars and cafes open their doors, they light the bonfires on the sand and enlivened by music DJs techno and trance that lasts well into the next morning. This festival is held for more than two decades and its fame has crossed the Thai border so you can easily find up to 20,000 people.
